lined up behind built up ridges overlooking open area where British marched up



Yorktown Battlefield 2nd Siege Line. The advance built up dirt fortifications and the extensive
well-located firepower of the allies were a determining factor in the surrender of the British at Yorktown.
Get the well done audio CD and the brochure describing the route and all the stops - it makes
the Yorktown Battlefield Tour much more interesting

in honor of the 1781 American victory;

Mariners Museum



Mariners Museum in Newport News, VA - (less than an hour northwest of Virginia Beach) A VERY interesting and well done Museum with many marine artifacts in an attractive 500+ acre park.
Everything you can think of related to the heritage of the Sea.



Many huge old ship mastheads






How about a cast iron boat - would not want to have to row this.

Many Colonial Williamsburg "workers" in period garb in settings of the time. This is village blacksmith shop. Blacksmith was pounding our square nails.

Sir Christopher Wren Building at well landscaped Historic College of William and Mary Campus
- located at the west end of Colonial Williamsburg. Building completed in 1699.
College was chartered in 1693. Still is a working college.

Approximately 350 year old restored Jamestown National Historic Site Church - The first successful
English colonization of North America began with Jamestown - the first permanent Colony
in New World from England. Site also has archelogical digs - interesting & educational.

We drove the Colonial National Historical Parkway Scenic Road that runs between Yorktown, Colonial Williamsburg, and Jamestown to get there which has some great scenery and places for picnics

Berkeley Plantation Mansion - Built in 1726. (about 18 miles scenic drive SW of Williamsburg)
Interesting costumed Guide tours of Mansion. These two "greeters" were with the outdoor
wedding party that was there that day.



Berkeley Plantation Outdoor Gardens set up for wedding. Large very well landscaped grounds
+ attractive scenic garden walk down to the river.
